Hand Painted Silk Ties

I was asked to paint the calla lily tie, which motivated me to paint the rest of the blanks I had. These ties are all one of a kind original paintings. I do the whole thing by hand, although I can repeat the design they are always different because I hand draw and paint each one. I will be listing four of them in my etsy shop. You will find them there this week for sale http://bellacosaart.etsy.com

Coffee, tea or me

Coffee, tea or me

I have a bit of a cold, so it may be clouding my judgement. This is the idea I came up with today. Cute? maybe...
These are again painted on recycled cedar boards from my parents house. I stretch muslin on them that I have laying around and I make a hanger on the back using pop tops.
I hope they sell because I must say they were fun to do. I wouldn't mind doing them again and even letting people pick the color of the cups.

My mom helped out on this end, she sent me on a treasure hunt to find this and I was so surprised. This necklace is so fab and is a stunning work of art. Thanks sabre, the master mind behind the plan and the creator of this necklace that 'belongs to me". It made me feel special. New Rustic Eco Art

New Rustic Eco Art
Originally uploaded by Bella Cosa Art
Ok my parents are residing their house, so they are tearing off the old cedar. I gathered up some pieces, stretch on some muslin and painted it. I plan on doing a bunch of them and sell them in my etsy shop. They are very rustic, in fact I didn't even square up the boards, but they are cedar so they smell good and will chase away moths.

A facet of that clinic is the soon to be Austism Clinic to help and support those who love someone with autism. Children causes are always close to my heart. I am blessed with three beautiful children myself, that I would give anything for. This is just a little thing I can give to support other children and also my daughter who is autistic.

First five things I soldered

These are the first five thing I have made. I have always enjoyed making jewelry but wanted to take it to a new level. I love the handcrafted, artisan look and decided I wanting to try silver smithing, basically soldering my own pieces and making my own findings. It is going to take some practice but it is really fun. I am learning how to do it by watching youtube and by the great artisans on etsy who have been a great help with supplies, instructions and a wealth of invalueable info.

I love to see the kids enjoying nature

While on our fishing trip the kids decided to hunt for frogs. They love to look at them, pet them and hold them. We teach them to be gentle and after visiting the wildlife returning it to it's home.

It is close and beautiful. The trout are fairly small but you can catch quite a few with makes it great for the kids, I like it too.

Body Art

Here is my three year old experimenting with some fun body art. She was very proud when she showed me. She had found some metallic pink finger nail polish and started on her nails and must of thought it looked so great she would keep going.

Featured Artist

In a nearby city, where I have never shown my art before, I am finally breaking through. For the month of April I am the featured artist at a cute, little boutique shop. Every month they feature a different local artist. I scheduled my date last August and now it is finally here. You would think with all that time I would have more done, but you know how that goes. I am happy though with my pieces I will be showing and I am anxiously awaiting to see the response. Even if it doesn't bring sales I am hoping that the exposure will be good. Miss Zula's, the boutique, very kindly does advertising in two local papers, The Missoulian and The Independant, in case you want to check out the actual ads, I am in Montana by the way. One of the ads are in full color and I wanted to share it with you. I thought it turned out very nice, I hope it will be an eye catcher and make people want to come see my work. Along with being featured for the month, they have what is called First Friday, so this Friday I will be there for a meet and greet. First Friday is where the downtown area stays open late and artists are there to mingle with the locals. I hope the weather is good and lots of people come.

I will keep you all posted on what happens......

Finished...First Triptych

Well, I am now breathing a sigh of relief, the trio of plumeria flowers is now complete. Each canvas is 24x36 so this turned out to be no small feat and a lot of paint. I am very happy with the outcome and will be proudly hanging them in the buyers and friends house later this month. The idea of this painting was taken from photos of a plant they have in their living room and the colors were chosen to complement their already existing decor, but I have a feeling after they hang this painting all other pieces for decorating their living room will be chosen around it.

Me...Painting

The longer I am here, the braver I get. I thought it would be nice to add a personal touch to my blog and to my art in general. So here is a picture of me working in my studio. If you look at some early posts I have given some sneak peaks of my studio but this is the first time you will find me in the picture. I am right now working on some large commission pieces. This is my first triptych, it is fun and challenging, but a little tedious at the same time working on three pieces the same, because when I finish the background on one I have two more to do. I am very happy with the way it is turning out and will post the finished project soon, I hope.

The Addiction of Knitting

I was warned but didn't listen and now I fear there is no turning back. Knitting has taken over.

I have found it so great to take along everywhere. I have three kids, so I find myself always waiting and supervising, now I can multitask during those times too and knit away. I find it calming. My middle child has Aspergers (high functioning Austism) I have to accompany her on different things and also supervise a lot of activities, such as cleaning her room. Knitting helps me to stay more patient and still be able to focus, guide and encourage her through given tasks.

So to make my second project a challenge, I decided to try my hand at double pointed needles and use four. Sooo fun. I am still using yarn from the second hand store and some great wool hand dyed fiber from a local place in our town. They have the best colors.

I have already started my next project, a cowl.

So here they are my arm warmers. What do you think?

These are the new fun items in my shop. Sterling silver spoon paintings. I saw this awesome idea at a friends house, she had got it as a gift from South America. I had never seen anything like this before. I find old sterling silver spoons and hand bend them so that they are free standing. I then paint a minature image on the face of the spoon and then varnish it. The look great on a window sill, a china cabinet, a little spot on your desk or actually anywhere you have a tiny space. They would also be great fun at each place setting at a special party and would be fun party favors for each person to take home. I can do a number of them by request for this purpose. Please see my shop for more info and if you need to contact me. http://bellacosaart.com
